Jerry... the last session

In late spring of 1995, Jerry Garcia was asked by the Magic Theater in San Francisco to create a one act play for an upcoming benefit evening of "Famous People/Not So Famous Playwrights". He also agreed to be the 'poster boy' and graciously agreed to let photographer James McCaffry turn his living room into a temporary photo studio for an afternoon by emptying it of furniture, blacking the windows, hanging seamless and lights, etc.
Two weeks after the shoot, Jerry bowed out of the project "due to illness" and passed away on August 9, 1995.

This photograph is the last studio portrait taken of the beloved musician and artist. A limited edition of 100 prints signed and numbered by the photographer are now available to the public for the first time.
